Annecy castle through the years

Perched on a hill above the town, Annecy Castle offers a breathtaking view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The castle was built in several phases, from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. In the 13th and 14th centuries, the Counts of Geneva resided there.

What has become of Annecy Castle today?

Today, the castle is a museum and a popular tourist attraction covering a wide range of disciplines, including regional history, medieval sculpture, landscape painting and contemporary art.

Temporary exhibitions are also held there throughout the year. You can visit it all year round, except on public holidays and on Tuesdays in low season.
